Antwerp Pride 2011 has started
The fourth edition of Antwerp Pride 2011 has started this week and have a varied program.
The unofficial theme this year is "Respect".
Certainly the street-attack in Brussels last weekend in which a gay man was attacked in the street,
Is there stiil need for gay pride today because many of their gayrights are fulfilled?
Recently in France, gay marriage has banned by a major conservative party.
These are the images, that young gay men see every day in the news.
The idea is that gay people stay in the closet by this various negative reports. (coming out )
By street visible of gays, this pride will be also a message to everyone.
Therefore, this pride is for everyone.
According to Philip Heylen, citymember council of Tourism in Antwerp, Antwerp is a very open city where gay people feels good.
Along with the pride, there are countless activities.
There is the European Youth Capital Antwerp (AEYC) of European Capital of young .
On Thursday, June 23 is the a opening party at the Pink house.
Friday is already the main attraction PINK Friday on the program with the support of gayclub Redandblue with a show provide by music group GetReady at 7PM.
Pink hats are available in gay bars Ortelius and Popi.
Lesbians has a own party Circus de Love .
For the big boys there is A HARD NIGHT at Petrol Club Antwerp.
Saturday is the mainday many different Accession.
Several gay bars have nice evenings.
There is the pinky fair clearance sale will animate the Kammenstraat, there is the multicultural street festival BorgerRio in Borgerhout and stat at 16.00 an outdoor party WAVE in the garden of the Old Customs office on the Eilandje.
This will be followed by a indoorparty Gorgeous in room Club Industria.
Both parties recieve a mixed, gay-friendly audience.
For gay men, there is the famous party Salvation at Redandblue and both parties wiil recieve many visitors.
Sunday is no day of rest, but the big activity will be at the Town Hall (Grote Markt) Closing the festival will start at 13.00 pm and a DJ will warm up the audience.
At 16.15 pm, following the recent event in Brussels, a flute concert from 1 minute for 'Respect'.
Whistles will be handed out on location. Possible at other locations too.

Wave party is the main event on Antwerp Pride 2011
The Antwerp Pride 2011 Main Event will be an event like you’ve never seen before!
The organisers and promoters behind Café de Love and Café de Luxe on the one hand and Pannekoek and Mezzo Giorno on the other hand will be joining forces to organise a special event.
Last year they worked together at the request of Antwerp Pride for the successful Antwerp Pride Closing Festival and now they will make sure Antwerp will shake on its foundations on Saturday.
This doubble party event on saterday is for all national and international visitors
for lesbian, gay and openminded people .
It start at 4PM - 11 PM.
The open-air afternoon event WAVE has many DJs programmed.
In the evening you can go to GORGEOUS!
In one of the most exclusive party venues (Club Industria) of the city 4 DJs will be performing on stage that night.

John Palatinus exibition in Antwerp
John Palatinus is one of the few surviving leaders in
the fight for the freedom to disseminate Gay photography and art during the 1950's and 60's.
He is a legendary
photographer from an era now called 'The Golden Age'
of Physique Photography.
At that time in America, it was
illegal to send some Photography with
U.S. Mail.
Palatinus has worked in his
studios in Northern Indiana and New York City and
published in numerous bodybuilding magazines and other publication.
In early 1959 by an raid by the New York Police in all of John's his cameras, equipment,
photographs, negatives, and mailing lists were confiscated
and never returned.
Now, after more than half a century,
his almost forgotten work has been re-discovered,
thanks to the work of archivist and curator
of vintage physique photography Alan Harmon.
This work is now showed in Antwerp (Belgium ) from
12 to 15 may (during Belgium Pride week)
and from 2 to 26 june (Antwerp Pride week ) at the DESIGN CENTER in Antwerp.

The White Party is in Antwerp
During the AntwerpPride present for the first time The White party , on Saturday 26 June and this promises to be larger than ever with acts and complete White with famous international DJ's .
Everyone is welcome on the white event.
The dresscode Is WHITE ,
and as from 15.00 h (3PM) at noon to midnight the visitors can enjoy a good white environment,
shows of Lasgo, Anna Grace, wrong Bunty and cast of international DJs.
The White party will take place on quay ,quay 21.

In Antwerp, the third edition of the four-day gay event 'Antwerp Pride' has started.

DDA stands for Designers Against AIDS is a project of Beauty Without Irony which was founded in Antwerp in 2004.
The International HIV / AIDS Awareness Education Center (IHAEC) is the recent project of DAA.

A delegate of the European Commission gave a donation of 3000 condoms will be distributed during Pride events.

The 2nd edition of Antwerp Pride colors Antwerp with several parties, exhibitions and cultural activities.
Antwerp is a gay(friendly) city with many gaybars and shops.
The activities around Gaypride are find mainly on 2 locations.
In particularly the quays (Waalse Kaai /Schelde Kaai) and North (Oudeleeuwenrui/Godefriduskaai).
The well-known Van Schoonhovenstraat and surroundings participate also .

The ‘Vitrine’ art & fashion exhibition 2010 – is located at Antwerp's city center from June 5th until June 26th.
The DAA installation at MoMu’s (Nationale straat 28 Antwerpen ) courtyard is inspired of statements of celebrities such as Dita Von Teese, Dries Van Noten and Estelle and other people in our network about HIV/AIDS - plus around 60 Amaryllis bulbs on long wires that will grow, bloom and wilt again in the next month.
DAA (Designers Against AIDS)
is an
Non-profit organization for international project start in 2004 in order to raise AIDS awareness in the international media and towards the general public, more specifically towards young people in the industrialised countries using elements from pop culture (music, fashion, design, arts, sports, film, celebrities, etc).
Continuing with new international collections presented ever since, DAA has reached a vast amount of press in lifestyle TV programs, regular newspapers, glossy magazines and different spaces in media mainly focused to a young audience.
This event is also a small part of Antwerp Pride 2010.
White Party on Antwerppride
Whiteparty on 26 june 2010 Antwerp.
It is for the first time in Belgium! The one and only official 'The White Party'.
It will be held from 3PM to 12PM on Kaai 21 Antwerp .
The white Party will replace the cancelled Navigaytion event on Antwerppride 2010 .
This concept has been worldwide known to be the premier gay party in the world, famous in Holland and European cities .
White party originates in Miami and is brought to Europe since 1997.
The Antwerp edition will be one of the biggest white party's ever held in Europe .
Sometimes there are local White events in Belgium
and in Antwerp .The concept is the same : White Dress only .

No Navigaytion 2010 in Antwerp
On Saturday 26 June 2010 there will be no planned boat parade Navigaytion in Antwerp. Cause: no main sponcors .
More than 7 years there was a new gay festival in Antwerp, Dans boats ball Navigaytion.
This annual event is from the discotheque Redandblue in Antwerp.
In 2008, there was no event because this went together with another gay sport event Eurogames in Antwerp.
By the disappearance of Navigaytion in Antwerp in 2010 , the top event of the Antwerp 2010 is gone.
A possible alternative could be on 25 June with a pink Friday on the Sinkenfoor (Fair) on Friday, just like pink Monday in Tilburg.
Navigaytion are a private festival without subsidy and as a result, the costs are very high.
Antwerpen Pride STARTED
Antwerppride 2009 have started on 25 June with several parties and events. Eye-catchers are the film shows in MUKHA and cartoons, the busy bustour at the homosexual quarters in the city by Popi bar. Vice-mayor P.Heylen opened the AntwerpPride with thanks to several organizations and employees for these 4 daily event. The opening party in the pink house was success.
